Prior to taking up this position, Smith served as Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Development at the College of New Jersey (TCNJ). Smith’s hiring comes about four months after the resignation of the former Associate Director of Athletics of DEI, Jordan “JT” Turner, who left the position in Sept. 2022.

11-time NBA champion Bill Russell’s Twitter account announced Sunday that the former Boston Celtic and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient passed away at the age of 88. Russell received an honorary doctorate in humanities from the University in 2001.
