Chitra Parikh ’21 was elected to be the next Undergraduate Student Government (USG) president with 74 percent of the student body vote, according to an email announcement by USG sent on Friday morning. Both of the proposed referenda on the ballot passed with overwhelming percent of the votes.
The progress report comes on the heels of a proposed USG referendum that would establish a standing Sustainability Committee. Wayner ‘22 said she views getting this referendum on the ballot as the Sustainability Task Force’s single greatest accomplishment.
Though the Undergraduate Student Government (USG)’s election handbook devotes 6,195 words to legislating contested elections and only 43 on uncontested ones, a majority of this year’s USG candidates are running unopposed.

According to USG President Zarnab Virk ’20, the current voting platform used by USG — known as Helios — is outdated. She therefore called for a switch to a platform more up-to-date with today’s technological advancements. The new platform used will be Election Runner.

Lutfah Subair ’21 presented on the new clubs approved by the Student Groups Recognition Committee (SCGC). Those clubs were the Latino Medical Students Association + Princeton University, Our Health Matters, and Hip-Hop Empowerment Conference Planning Committee.
