Q&A: Deshawn Cook, Butler College Director of Student Life

Dr. Deshawn Cook was appointed as the new director of student life for Butler College on October 25th, 2016. He came to the University from Drew University, where he served as the assistant director of residential life and the Title IX coordinator. Cook earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an M.A. in Liberal Studies at Ramapo College as well as a Doctor of Letters at Drew University.

These announcements come after President-elect Donald Trump’s statement to repeal the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. This policy, implemented in 2012, protects undocumented students from deportation.

USLC unanimously passes proposal in favor of gender-neutral housing

The University Student Life Committee unanimously passed a proposal on Wednesday to expand gender-neutral housing on campus. Previously only dorms with at least one more room than the number of inhabitants were gender-neutral, making only ten percent of undergraduate housing gender neutral.
