This Thursday the tennis team held a fundraiser for junior Jacob Kaplan at the Lenz Tennis Center. Members of the community could play against varsity athletes in support of Kaplan’s fight against cancer. Participants were asked to donate $15 dollars towards Kaplan’s cause.

Last weekend, the baseball team had a tough time, getting swept at Clarke Field against Columbia (14-21, 9-7 Ivy). Princeton (9-26-1, 5-11) kept the games close. In particular, strong pitching proved a key to Princeton’s success in game two with senior pitcher Chad Powers striking out a season — best seven batters in seven innings work. Senior infielder Cody Phillips had a strong showing in these two games as well, with two hits in the first game and a career-high four hits in the second game, batting a total of 6-7 on the day.
The Princeton Women’s Lacrosse Team (11-3, 5-1 Ivy) caused Cornell (10-4, 5-1 Ivy) to drop its first Ivy League challenge of the season last Saturday afternoon, triumphing in a 12-11 double overtime win on Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, NY.
In their weekend home bouts against Ivy League competitors this weekend, the men’s tennis team split their two matches, rebounding after a 3-4 heartbreaking loss to Harvard to take a 4-2 win against Dartmouth.
Two weekends ago, senior Alice Zheng, a member of Princeton’s Powerlifting Club, earned first place at the 2017 USAPL Collegiate Nationals. A veteran of the sport, Zheng took the top spot with an impressive performance, squatting 160 kg, benching 91 kg, and deadlifting 188 kg.
It is always very exhilarating to win a title, especially one after a long title drought. But to win a title in as dominating a fashion as the Tigers did is a feeling all its own.
In the penultimate weekend of their regular season, the Princeton softball team clinched the Ivy League South Division and a spot in the Ivy League championship series after winning three out of four games against Columbia.
