Grad students welcome at the Street any time

Regarding 'Hi-tech tools are needed to safeguard clubs' (John Lombardini GS, Susan McWilliams GS and Andy Rachlin '04, March 31):

I am shocked and surprised to find that Lombardini and McWilliams felt I was considering the presence of Graduate Students at the Street to be a nuisance of any type. In no way did I disparage graduate students frequenting the clubs. Far from it, I would be delighted to have you come join us for a meal, a movie or any planned events.

I merely cited that it was unlikely that the graduate student who authored the grossly inaccurate letter criticizing Newton's column frequented the clubs as regularly as, say, a club president such as Newton. The writer, in my opinion, was therefore in no position to be considered an authority on them, and should refrain from masquerading as such.

I hope my words will not be interpreted as discouraging the attendance of our cousins in Grad College at future Prospect Avenue events. I look forward to seeing Lombardini and McWilliams in the near future, and I urge them to contact me if they will ever be guests of ours, that I might make them feel as welcome as possible.
