Following two earthquakes — one at 7.8 magnitude and one at 7.6 magnitude — in Syria and Turkey, students have begun a donation campaign for survivors of the tragedy. Student leaders in the Turkish Student Association (TSA) emphasized the importance of a quick distribution of resources.

At a campus event hosted by The Princeton Tory this month, panelist Mariam Memarsadeghi, an Iranian activist advocating for regime change in Iran, accused Chair and Professor of Near Eastern Studies Behrooz Ghamari-Tabrizi of being “very close to the Iranian regime” — accusations that Ghamari-Tabrizi rejected in an interview with the ‘Prince.’

Some students chose to engage with the protestors or counter their speech. Those who engaged took a variety of tactics: challenging the protesters’ rhetoric directly, taking photos in front of the signs, or yelling out to the crowd. Several students who walked by the crowd commented that they thought the protestors were “joking” or laughed at the extremist protestors’ statements.
