Tigers overwhelm Yale in Ivy Tournament semifinals

The top seeded Tigers proved why they were regular season Ivy League champions by dismantling Yale in the tournament semifinal. Now, they await the winner of Harvard vs. Penn in the biggest game of the season.

Women’s basketball preview: Ivy League tournament

This weekend, women’s basketball will travel to Philadelphia to play in the second annual Ivy League Conference Tournament. With an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line, the Tigers will begin the weekend at 6 p.m Saturday against Yale (15–12 overall, 8–6 Ivy) and will advance to the championship game 4 p.m. Sunday with a win.

Men’s tennis hosts Monmouth and Temple on Sunday

Princeton men’s tennis (11–5) looks to extend its five-game winning streak on Sunday as the Tigers take on the Monmouth University Hawks (3–9) and Temple University Owls (7–3) at Jadwin Gymnasium.

The 2015 No. 1 Young Gun Junior, 2017 Nike Northeast Player of the Year, and 2017 U.S. Lacrosse National Player of the Year received U.S. Lacrosse All-America for three consecutive years and Under Armour All-America honors amongst other accolades in recognition of her talent and hard work that culminated in 282 goals, 138 assists, and 244 ground balls. 

Men’s tennis sweep weekend with perfect 3-0 home stand

Men’s tennis swept Binghamton, Charlotte, and Western Michigan in its three-game home stand. The Tigers extended their win streak to five games as they look to build momentum heading into Ivy League play at the end of the month.

Men’s basketball wraps up season with difficult loss at Yale

With the season on the line, the men’s basketball team fell just short of qualifying for the Ivy League Tournament in a heartbreaking overtime loss to Yale. To qualify, the Tigers needed to win both games this weekend and for Harvard to defeat Columbia. While Princeton handily defeated Brown 78–63, the Orange and Black were narrowly outscored in OT with Yale, falling to the Bulldogs 90–94.

Tigers take the water ready for a competitive racing season

Junior rower Ricky Swanton, who raced in the first varsity eight last spring and this fall, referenced Princeton’s season-opening loss to Navy from last spring. “The whole team is eager to challenge the team that handed us our first loss last year,” said Swanton, who raced in the first varsity eight last spring and this fall. 

Tigers lacrosse to maintain strong offense for new season

This past weekend, the men’s lacrosse team (1–1) travelled down to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on the No. 4 lacrosse team University of Virginia  (4–0). Unfortunately, the game did not end up going to No. 20 Princeton; they lost 18–15. However, the Tigers certainly cannot be disappointed with their level of play.

For now, the Tigers have their work cut out for them as they are projected to finish sixth in the Ivy League by the coaches poll. But at least one person disagrees.  “Personally, I don’t agree with the low placement for Princeton,” Rece Davis said. “I think this team has a lot of weapons and I think many people will be surprised with how well they do this year.” 

Women’s crew teams will put themselves to the test this spring

In Boston, the Tigers placed fifth in the lightweight field. The following weekend, they finished 15th amongst open and lightweight women’s crews. They were the top lightweight finishers in the combined Women’s Eight category at the Chase, besting the next fastest lightweight crew, Georgetown, by 16 seconds.  “We aren't super interested in waiting for the future; we are excited to see what we can do in the now,“ said Head Coach Paul Rassam after the race.

Men's and Women's Tennis prepare for Ivy League and look for NCAA qualifications

Less than a month separates the men’s and women’s tennis team from a return to Ivy League play. While both sides have been competing since September, conference play and the ensuing NCAA tournament will undoubtedly add a degree of intensity as the season progresses. Both the men’s and women’s teams have shown strong performances so far, promising an exciting and competitive 2018 campaign.

Track and Field teams poised for successful seasons

Men’s track and field is poised to have an outstanding season. The team is starting its outdoor season coming off a hot win at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Not only was this the Tiger’s fourth consecutive Heps title win, but they won Heps by the largest margin in race history, beating out second place Penn by 68 points.

Led by senior captains Camille Sullivan and Abby Finkelston, the reigning Ivy League champion women’s lacrosse team is hoping to continue the momentum from last spring’s successful season to reclaim its conference title and clinch a spot in the NCAA Final Four.
