Rain postpones first road game of season for Tigers

After prevailing in the first two games of its season, the women's soccer team was foiled by Mother Nature Thursday night, as thunderstorms postponed their match at Seton Hall. The Tigers (2-0) will now play two in-state rivals in three days, taking on the Pirates (1-4-1) Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Tigers to begin play this weekend as they host the Princeton Invitational

After finishing third in the Eastern Championships and just missing the NCAA tournament in 2012, the men's water polo team begins its season this weekend at the Princeton Invitational with games at home against Santa Clara, Penn, Harvard and Iona. Last year, the team went 17-12, finishing in third place in both the Southern Championships and the Eastern Championships.

BY STEPHEN WOOD Sports Editor Embattled probably-still-future MLB Hall of Famer Alex Rodriguez and his girlfriend, Torrie Wilson, stopped by Princetonon Saturday, presumably on the way to meet with one of Rodriguez’s attorneys, according to the NY Post. The Yankees third baseman, whose 2013 season has been made a nightmare by nagging injuries and the Biogenesis scandal, reportedly toured several of the campus’ notable buildings and visited the baseball and football fields. No word on the exact purpose of the visit, although it’s possible that A-Rod was hoping to getMike Ford’s autograph. Or maybe it was a college visit.

Dick Kazmaier ’52, legendary tailback and Princeton’s only Heisman Trophy winner, diedThursdayin Boston at age 82. Bob Ruxin ’76, president of Kazmaier’s firm, Kazmaier Associates, Inc.,said that the cause of death was heart and lung disease. Kazmaier was known across the country for his prowess on the field, but he was equally famous in the Princeton community for his humility, as well as for his choice not to pursue professional football despite winning college football’s highest honor in 1951.

"It was a superb race, from the start to the finish," senior Heidi Robbins told GoPrincetonTigers.com just after her V8 boat won the grand final at the 2013 Ivy League Championships. The race was, indeed, superb for Robbins and her boat, which led the field throughout the entire contest on its way to a 6:29.96 mark and a comfortable win over second-place Yale, which finished at 6:36.86.
