Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Anthony Romero ’87 discussed the importance of the First Amendment at the final Princeton Progressive Law Society (PPLS) event of the 2022-23 academic year. The event comes as free speech conversations have swirled around campus and University President Christopher L. Eisgruber ’83 spoke last week with PPLS and advocated for progressives to embrace the value.

He previously served as a Chair of the English Department and Associate Dean of the Faculty for the Humanities at Boston University. USG voted to increase student activity fees from $45.50 to $95.50 in its meeting on Sunday, May 7. Prior to the meeting, USG had a meeting in February to discuss the proposal and an email was sent to the student body at 2 p.m. on the day of the meeting, informing them of the vote.

Seven seniors were awarded the Spirit of Princeton Award, which recognizes “students with a strong commitment to enhancing the undergraduate experience through contributions to student organizations.” The winners are Emilio Cano Renteria, Ryan Champeau, Hannah Kapoor, Aaron Leung, Serena Starks, Mutemwa Masheke, and Alexander Mrkalj.

Faculty approve climate science minor, mostly humanities departmental minors

University faculty approved all eight minors up for consideration, including two new minors in Climate Science and Philosophy, on April 24. Of the six brand new minor programs approved so far, most are pared-down versions of existing majors, opening the door for students to deeply explore areas of studies without declaring.

The ‘Prince’ reviewed relevant reports and interviewed current and former chairs of the Honor Committee about how their processes have changed since the rejected referenda and students’ criticism of the Committee.

The ‘Prince’ reviewed all relevant reports and interviewed current and former chairs of the Honor Committee about how their processes have changed since the rejected referenda and students’ criticism of the Committee.This process revealed that the Honor Committee has undergone various changes over the last few years. Moreover, compared to the Committee on Discipline (COD), the Honor Committee has much narrower scope.

Members of a fraternity were charged with a violation of hazing. Of the members, 16 students were suspended, four students had their degree withheld, and five students received disciplinary probation.
