While some Princeton professors use traditional teaching methods, others have begun to incorporate audio and video clips, such as those from youtube.com, into their lecture material.

“I had intellectual fun,” African-American studies and religion professor Cornel West GS ’80 said of his experience working with filmmaker Astra Taylor on her documentary “Examined Life.” The film, which opened Feb. 20 and also features philosophy professor Kwame Anthony Appiah and bioethics professor Peter Singer, seeks to bring philosophy “out of academic journals and classrooms, and [put] it back on the streets,” according to its website.

Zachary Sweet described his trajectory from a Christian childhood to a “hotbed of homosexuality” music school to a period of celibacy and finally to a stable relationship, accompanying himself on the cello in a performance last night in the Whitman common room. Sweet performed excerpts from the Bach Suites for Unaccompanied Cello and told his personal story of struggling with promiscuity and turning to abstinence to an audience of about 20 people.
