Cadava appointed new Wilson College master

Cadava joined the English department in 1989 and served as its departmental representative from 1999 to 2002 and again during the 2007-08 academic year.

He has been involved with the residential colleges during his time at the University, serving as a resident faculty member at Wilson from 1990 to 1997. He also served as a senior faculty fellow at Forbes from 2002 to 2007.

Dean of the College Nancy Malkiel and Dean of Undergraduate Students Kathleen Deignan selected Cadava for the position. Masters of the six colleges report directly to Malkiel.

Cadava was traveling Thursday and could not be reached for comment.

Marguerite Browning, the current Wilson master, is leaving the University to become vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Harvey Mudd College.

Cadava earned his Ph.D. from UC Irvine in 1988. He specializes in American literature and culture, literary and political theory, comparative literature, media technologies and theory of translation, according to the English department’s website.

He is also an associate member of the comparative literature department, the architecture school, the Center for African American Studies, the Program in Latin American Studies and the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies.
