U., ranked 10th, only Ivy among private colleges whose graduates have the least debt

The University ranked 10th in a list of most affordable private colleges, according to a study conducted by the company Student Loan Hero. With an average indebtedness of graduates of $8,577, the University was the only Ivy League university on the list, which included College of the Ozarks in Missouri ($5,339), Davis College in New York ($5,360), Barclay College in Kansas ($7,220), and Brigham Young University in Utah ($15,720).

Rahul Gandhi presents vision for India's future

An inclusive vision for India, opening up several systems in the country, and the creation of jobs are some ideas that are top priority for India’s future, according to Indian politician Rahul Gandhi. Gandhi is Vice President of the Indian National Congress party, Chairperson of the Indian Youth Congress, and is currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. According to Gandhi, the process of transforming India began several decades ago, and has accelerated over the past 25 years. The Gandhi family has been involved in Indian national politics for a similarly long tenure.

U. joins additional amicus brief against Trump travel ban

The University has once more decided to join the battle over President Trump’s ban on entry into the United States by people from six Muslim-majority countries, after doing so earlier in the spring. The University filed an amicus curiae, or friend-of-the-court, brief yesterday along with 30 other colleges and universities.

U. revamps scheduling software Timeline

The University has revamped a scheduling software for students developed by OIT called “Timeline,” now also accessible as a mobile application for Android and iOS devices. The application aims to facilitate the distribution of time-sensitive information to members of the University community and to consolidate campus activities, class schedules, and deadlines into one convenient place for users. Timeline was developed in response to concerns expressed by students and administrators regarding effective communication, according to the website. Linked to Blackboard, TigerHub, and the academic calendar, the app shows students academic deadlines -- even specific within certain groups like concentrations. Based on personal settings, Timeline can display WASS office hour appointments, assignment due dates from Blackboard, and upcoming lectures and sporting events. Posts may be “tagged” or “targeted.” The former indicates information such as events, deadlines, and announcements for specific individuals or groups in the campus community.

A rare albino groundhog has been spotted on Poe Field near the softball diamond. The animal was sighted eating grass on the field before running beneath a shed. Whether or not the albino groundhog seen on campus can predict the weather is yet to be seen.

Vigil held in Xiyue Wang's honor on Friday

Around 200 family members, friends, and colleagues of Xiyue Wang GS gathered in a candlelit vigil last night in his honor. Wang is a Ph.D. student in the history department and a naturalized U.S. citizen who has been imprisoned in Iran for the last 13 months. His appeal of his conviction and sentence was denied last month.

ORL support for Planned Parenthood fundraiser draws controversy

On August 11, the University’s Office of Religious Life co-sponsored a rally at the Carl A. Fields Center in support of Planned Parenthood, drawing criticism from some members of the University community. The rally was organized by Run 4 All Women New Jersey one day before six local women ran 44 miles from the Princeton Women’s Center to Philadelphia’s City Hall “to raise visibility and funds for Planned Parenthood of NJ — and to advance the social dialogue about equitable health care, women’s rights, and empowered wellness more broadly!” Both events were advertised by ORL in a Facebook post, which also gave instructions on how to donate to Planned Parenthood on CrowdRise.
