Total enrollment of U. co-ops increases

Since 2017, the number of University food co-ops — meal plans in which students buy groceries, cook in small teams, and have evening meals together as a group -- has increased. There are currently five university-recognized co-ops: 2 Dickinson Street (2d), Brown, International Food (IFC), Scully, and Real Food, as well as one unrecognized co-op, Pink House.

New allegations surface about Verdú’s relationships with students

On June 9, a Title IX investigation found professor Sergio Verdú responsible for violating the University’s policy on Sex Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct. In a memo describing the investigation obtained by The Daily Princetonian, the Title IX panel wrote that Verdú had exhibited “highly inappropriate and unprofessional” behavior: Inviting his graduate student Yeohee Im to watch a sexually explicit film and allegedly touching her on the stomach and thigh during the encounter.

Eisgruber talks Rosen controversy, Honor Code reform, Dreamers at CPUC meeting

President Eisgruber addressed concerns about the recent controversy regarding anthropology professor Lawrence Rosen, Honor Code reform, and DACA students at a Feb. 12 meeting for the Council of the Princeton University Community. In response to the Rosen controversy, President Eisgruber emphasized his belief that free speech and inclusivity on campus are not exclusive, but rather “mutually supportive” of one another.

77 percent of sophomores bicker or sign-in to eating clubs, holds steady since spring 2017

The admissions process for bicker and sign-in eating clubs took place last week, with 1,016 sophomores participating, representing 77 percent of the Class of 2020. This represented a 1 percentage point decrease from last spring’s participation rate of 78 percent, according to a press release by the Interclub Council of the Eating Clubs of Princeton University.

International student enrollment declines at U.S. colleges, continues to rise at U.

The number of international students residing in the United States and studying with student visas has declined. This overall decline is a recent trend that appeared after years of steady growth in international student enrollment, which may reflect widespread and newfound apprehension of the current political climate and immigration policies under the Trump administration. At the University, the number of international students has been growing steadily over the past few years.

Former Japanese prime minister Hatoyama argues for regional cooperation

Respecting one’s dignity while respecting the dignity of others is the central principle behind uniting East Asia, said former Japanese prime minister Yukio Hatoyama at a lecture on Thursday, Feb. 8. Hatoyama served as Japan’s prime minister from September 2009 to June 2010. He was the head of the Democratic Party of Japan, which he led to victory over the long-dominant Liberal Democratic Party.

McCarter Theatre receives $50K to further programs at Trenton Public Schools

McCarter Theatre has received a $50,000 grant from the Princeton Area Community Foundation to help grow their programs with Trenton Public Schools. The grant supports McCarter’s efforts to further integrate and grow arts programs into Trenton Public Schools and increase students’ overall academical and social performances.
