The first dose has been received by 5,382 individuals so far, and the second dose will continue to be administered from noon to 8 p.m. in the basement of Frist Campus Center until Thursday evening.

Eligible vaccine candidates are limited to undergraduates, graduate students living in dormitories and University community members with certain medical conditions.

The vaccine, which is not currently approved for use in the United States, is being offered in an effort to curb an outbreak of meningitis type B that has affected 8 students and a campus visitor since March. The last case was of the disease was reported in December, just a few weeks before the first dose of the vaccine was offered.
