Yale may consider implementing a policy that would allow students to designate a class “Credit/D/Fail” after finishing it, according to a recent report in the Yale Daily News.
Currently, students at Yale can take classes Credit/D/Fail but cannot switch to this option after seeing their final grade.
However, College Dean Mary Miller ’75 said she had informally spoken with colleagues about changing this policy so students would feel less pressure to earn high grades during the term.
Most of the students interviewed for the Daily News story said they supported the change, but some said it would make students more likely to “slack off in class.”
Princeton students do not have the option to designate a class Pass/D/Fail after they have seen their grades.
