Reaching for the red carpet

For 364 days of the year, I have no idea why anyone admires movie stars. To me, they just seem like a bunch of spoiled children who are more attractive than the rest of us (or can just afford better plastic surgery, not to mention world-famous stylists and makeup artists) and flit around causing trouble for themselves and others, which bored people then read about in tabloid magazines.

New-waver Joe Jackson returns with eclectic tracks

Joe Jackson burst onto the music scene with a bang in 1979 with his classic debut "Look Sharp!" It was the prototypical new-wave album, and it saw Jackson join Elvis Costello as one of the earliest progenitors of a musical style that dominated much of the following decade, influencing bands from Blondie to The Police with its commercially savvy mixture of punk sass and pop smarts.
