It’s been another extremely fruitful year for the Princeton track and field program.
For the first time in 12 years, the entire Princeton women’s golf team opened the NCAA regional tournament on Monday at the University of Georgia’s golf course in Athens, Ga. The Tigers’ spot in the competition was a result of earning the Ivy League's automatic bid after a 31-stroke victory over Harvard at the Ivy League Championships, which ended on April 23.
For the second consecutive year, the Princeton women’s softball team has won the Ivy League Championship and earned a coveted spot in the NCAA tournament.
The Princeton men’s track and field team captured its 17th Outdoor Heps title at the 82nd annual Outdoor Heps Championships held May 6 and 7 at Yale. With an entire team effort, the Tigers edged out second-place Cornell 156 to 149 points for its fifth title in the past seven years.
After qualifying 10 athletes for Day Two, the women’s track and field team finished in third place in the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship with 103 points.
The women’s lacrosse team swept through Penn with a record-setting performance in the Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.
Despite the rain-soaked field and the downpour that ensued all game, the Tigers were able to generate tons of chances to score.
Senior Alex Day and junior Luke Gamble earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament this past Wednesday.
This Thursday the tennis team held a fundraiser for junior Jacob Kaplan at the Lenz Tennis Center. Members of the community could play against varsity athletes in support of Kaplan’s fight against cancer. Participants were asked to donate $15 dollars towards Kaplan’s cause.
With its win last Saturday on senior day against Columbia (7-8, 2-5 Ivy), the women’s lacrosse team captured its fourth straight Ivy League title and 13th in school history.
After wins over Bucknell and Hartwick, the Princeton Women’s Water Polo team fell to the University of Michigan in the championship game of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Championships this weekend, April 28th to 30th.
In what would be a thrilling afternoon, the men’s lacrosse team fell just short as Cornell edged out the Princeton squad 18-17, despite a strong Princeton push late in the game.
At the beginning of the season, the Princeton women’s softball team identified its major goal as defending the Ivy League title and winning at least once in the NCAA tournament. Princeton will have the chance to secure one of those objectives this weekend, as they face Harvard in the Ivy League Championship Series for the second consecutive year with the conference title and an NCAA tournament bid on the line.
Last weekend saw the women’s lacrosse team beat Columbia 18-11 to take home part of the Ivy League title.
The Princeton men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the 123rd Penn Relay Carnival held at UPenn and at the 2017 Lion’s Invitational held at TCNJ this past weekend.
While the Princeton baseball team may not be hoisting a banner this year, the Tigers can look towards the future with much anticipation and optimism. Princeton ended their season this weekend with a 4 game split against the Cornell Big Red.
The largest track and field event in the nation occurred this weekend in Philadelphia, and it was an important one for Princeton women’s track and field.
The men’s tennis team concluded its regular spring season with a 4-3 victory against Penn on Saturday at the Lenz Tennis Center.
The women’s water polo team, ranked No. 9 by the Collegiate Water Polo Association, is entering the CWPA Championship, April 28-30, with strong momentum and an incredible showing from the senior class.
