Departments slash budgets for outside lecturers

Outside lecturers will be more scarce on campus this year in light of the $88 million budget cuts, administrators said this week. Professors from other institutions will play a smaller role in Princeton academics, and academic departments may have to adjust their visiting public lecture programs.

USG launches new site for buying, selling textbooks

The USG’s newly launched Princeton Textbook Exchange (PTX), which allows students to sell their used books, has already met with a great deal of success, Class of 2012 senator Becca Lee said. Already, 967 transactions have been requested by buyers, and 1,760 books have been offered on the site.

The two-day conference was the inaugural training session of the Veterans Campaign, a non-partisan organization founded by several Wilson School graduate students aimed at preparing veterans for public office. Thirty-four students report cases of flu-like illnesses

Thirty-four undergraduate and graduate students and one dependent have self-reported cases of flu-like illnesses, University spokeswoman Emily Aronson said on Wednesday, adding that the University has taken steps to prevent the spread of swine flu on campus with an e-mail Wednesday morning to students listing several health and hygiene guidelines. Of the 34 “generally mild” cases, 15 were reported by students who participated in or led Community Action or Outdoor Action programs.

Fisch finished third in the Democratic primary on June 2 behind Jenny Crumiller, a former head of the Princeton Community Democratic Organization who won 531 votes, and incumbent Councilman Kevin Wilkes ’83, who won 472 votes.
