There have been a total of 260 cases of influenza-like illness on campus, University Health Services Executive Director John Kolligian said at a meeting of the Council of the Princeton University Community on Monday.
Kolligian added that small quantities of H1N1 vaccine are scheduled to arrive on campus within the next few weeks.
Last week, University spokeswoman Emily Aronson explained that “the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and state are regulating the vaccine distribution process across the state.” She added that the University was waiting for further information about distribution timing and details.
On Sept. 17, the total count of on-campus cases of flu-like illness stood at 34, and by Sept. 24, that total of cases had jumped to 80.
“The cases have been generally mild, and most of these people have recovered and are no longer ill,” Aronson said on Sept. 24.
Aronson also said at the time that these figures were consistent with those from other college campuses.
“We’re aware that other schools have reported a continued increase in the number of cases of flu-like illness after students returned to campus,” she said, “so while we continue to prepare for further cases of flu-like illness, our hope is that the University’s ongoing planning and communications efforts will help reduce the spread of illness.”
