According to a statement issued by Brown University President Ruth Simmons last Friday, Brown has become the first university to stop future investments in HEI Hotels & Resorts, a real estate company that has been under scrutiny for its treatment of workers.

A study coauthored by Sara McLanahan, professor of sociology and public affairs at the University, found that 5-year-old children who live in urban public housing on average spend 13 percent more time each day playing outdoors compared to other urban 5-year-olds.

U. asked to demolish abandoned Exxon gas station

The University has been asked to begin demolition of an abandoned Exxon gas station located on Washington Road along Route 1. The site, which sits on land owned by Princeton University, lies at the entrance to West Windsor Township and has been called an “eyesore” by a number of Township citizens and government officials.

Shifke '12 elected as first female president of Ivy

Ivy Club elected its first female president, Caroline Shifke ’12, on Tuesday night. The club, which was founded in 1879, was the first eating club at Princeton and is the oldest on the Street.Shifke, whose brother John Shifke ’10 served as the president of Ivy two years ago, is the third woman to be elected an eating club president for the upcoming year.
