Former university president William Bowen GS ’58 will deliver the graduate student commencement address at Indiana University Bloomington on May 6, the university announced last week.
Bowen earned his doctorate in economics and sociology from Princeton. He later served as the president of Princeton from 1972 to 1988 and is also the former president of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The author of more than 20 books, Bowen published his latest, “Lessons Learned: Reflections of a University President,” last year.
He will be joined by Patricia Miller, former Indiana Secretary of Commerce and co-founder of Vera Bradley Designs, who will deliver the commencement address to two seatings of undergraduates on the following day.
