Mike Gallagher, known as a rising Republican star and a China hawk, has represented Wisconsin’s 8th District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2017. He served on the House China Task Force, which produced more than 400 policy recommendations in Sept. In July, he called for Congressional hearings on American companies’ links to forced labor of Uighur Muslims.

Gallagher has also shown his willingness to work across the aisle, having indicated support for bipartisan police reform, originally cosponsored a bipartisan bill to allow provisional drug approvals, and co-chaired a bipartisan Cyberspace Solarium Commission.

After graduating with an A.B. from the School of Public and International Affairs, Gallagher served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and later used the G.I. Bill to pursue a Ph.D. from Georgetown.
