News & Notes: Painting allegedly punched at Ivy

A painting was allegedly punched and damaged last Friday in Ivy Club, according to a press release by the Princeton Police Department.

Police were called to the club on the report that someone had punched and damaged a painting in the club, the release said. The painting and its frame were both damaged. The suspect was allegedly seen fleeing the scene by club members.

No charges have been filed yet. The cost to repair the painting has not yet been determined.

Ivy president Thatcher Foster ’14 did not respond to a request for comment Monday.

This is the latest is a series of crimes occurring at eating clubs. Last semester, six thefts and burglarieswere reported in the eating clubs, a significant increase from zero during the same period the year before. Burglaries occurred at Cap & Gown and Cottage Clubs, although nothing was determined to be missing. Cottage, Tower, Terrace and Quadrangle Clubs reported thefts of personal property as well. At the time, the presidents of Cap and Quad both declined to comment as to whether or not their clubs maintain security cameras.
