Concert: Emerson String Quartet

Are you classy? If so, come hear the Emerson Quartet perform a dazzling repertoire of Beethoven, Barber and Shostakovich following the theme of “Memory and the Work of Art.” The world-renowned group has won nine Grammys and was called “America’s greatest quartet” by Time. At the 7 p.m. pre-concert talk, you’ll have a chance to meet the players and hear firsthand about what it takes to be a professional musician.

Theater: ‘The Monkeys Are Coming!’ Senior Thesis Production

Directed by Gabriel Crouse ’12, “The Monkeys Are Coming!” is the senior thesis production you won’t want to miss. Based on Lev Lunts’ renowned 1923 “Obez’iany idut!”, the play was translated by Princeton’s own Russian professor Stanislav Shvabrin. Given that the Soviet government declared Lunts’ works to be a “pernicious and alien” affront to Soviet ideology, this show is sure to be a truly stimulating experience.

Film: African Film Series presents ‘Ainsi meurent les anges’

African Film Series will be showcasing its third movie in a 10-part installment on Tuesday. The film, “Ainsi meurent les anges” (And So Angels Die), depicts a troubled Senegalese poet living with his French wife and children outside of Paris. Following the screening will be a 10-minute discussion led by professor Wendy Belcher. The event is free and sponsored by the Department of Comparative Literature, Center for African American Studies and Program in African Studies.
