Monday:

Breakfast: Stolen bagel and coffee from Murray-Dodge Hall. -LH

Lunch: Two bananas. -LH

Dinner: Dinner was a piece of cake today — literally. It arrived straight from Point to my iCal and into my hands at the Chinese Moon Festival celebration in Butler College. One cake was sweet and appeared to be egg-based, while the other was savory and delicious - but still left me wanting more.

I left and headed to the cozy library of Campus Club for the College Democrats Blue Monday meeting. On the menu tonight was free pizza — my favorite! I tried my best to blend in as the club members discussed supporting a congressman, but after a few minutes I decided to make my escape - though I did surreptitiously snatch another slice for later. -LH

Tuesday:

Breakfast: I had Cheerios that I had taken from the Forbes dining hall the night before. They were really good. Not much else to say about Cheerios. -LF

Lunch: I had a peanut butter sandwich that I had also taken from the Forbes dining hall last night. It was the perfect meal in between my classes, but definitely wasn’t enough for the rest of the day. Dinner is going to be interesting. -LF

Dinner: Doing my biology lab in the afternoon left me very hungry. Luckily, it was easy to find food tonight. After sleeping through two free-food events, I got up and went to a club meeting in the Whitman dining hall. Not only did I have some cookies and rice cakes at the meeting, but I also got to take some food from Whitman. Whitman dining hall leaves out food at night, so I took two donuts and a bagel for the road. After the meeting, I ran over to the Center for Jewish Life for a caramel apple study break. Although I didn’t have any caramel apples, I ate some pretzels with caramel and got four bags of pretzels for the road. I’d say tonight was pretty successful.

Wednesday:

Breakfast: Squirrel-like, I learned today to gather my food where it falls and then stock it up for later. Some useful strategies include: study breaks, stolen fruit, cereals from midnight snacks in the dining halls, cookies from Murray-Dodge Cafe, packets of tea, packets of ketchup, jam and peanut butter. -LH

Lunch: Banana and cookies. -LH

Dinner: I attended the discussion on Christianity with professors Robbie George and Cornel West GS '80 today with the intention of exploiting the reception afterward. The lecture was great - especially because Brother West is obviously my soul mate - but the reception was a disappointment. It's not that I don't like squares of cheese, scones and pastries, but there really is only so much my food pyramid can take before it collapses.

Thursday:

Breakfast: Bagel with peanut butter and jelly. -LH

Lunch: Two bananas. -LH

Dinner: Very. Hungry. I headed to Frist to get some food at "Tastes and Sounds of Princeton" by the Center Stage programming board. It was a good decision. The event was nothing less than a buffet of Princeton's best sweets. The array consisted of Witherspoon bread, Twist, House of Cupcakes, and even smoothies. It was quite the balancing act getting all those cookies, brownies, and pastries back to my room. I've never been so happy and so utterly grossed out at the same time. -LH

Friday:

Breakfast: Fruit. I have never eaten so much fruit in one week. -LH

Lunch: As I rounded a corner in Robertson Hall on my way to precept, I glimpsed it out of the corner of my eye. Free cookies and soda! To follow this up, there was a class of 2013 Fruity Yogurt study break at 3:30. It felt good to take free goods from somewhere I was actually invited.

Dinner: After sleeping through dinner again (college kids really do need afternoon naps!), I had no idea what I was going to do for my meal. However, upon checking my e-mail, I found out Forbes was having an Auntie Anne’s pretzel study break. I ran downstairs and ate three pretzels for dinner. It definitely was not the healthiest meal, but it certainly was a delicious one.

Saturday:

Breakfast: More fruit. Surely this much fruit isn't healthy. -LH

Lunch: Someone gave me a free sandwich. I guess I just look that desperate. -LH

Dinner: As days go by, I find that my task is weighing heavier and heavier. I am low on blood sugar, morale and dignity. By the time dinner rolls around, I'm already contemplating overdosing on my caramel-flavored calcium chews.

Luckily, there was one small event happening at Frist Campus Center tonight. It was a gamble because the description was vague, but I took it out of necessity. The event was called "Beaded Jewelry Design" - and they gave me a $4 coupon to Witherspoon's Cafe!

My first thought was, how much food can buy with $4? A giant sugar cookie and a chocolate caramel apple, of course! It was probably the weirdest dinner I've ever had, but hey, at least fruit is good for you. -LH

Sunday:

Breakfast: Sleeping... -LH

Lunch: I went to Columbia for the weekend. There is no better way to get a free meal than to go visit someone at another college. Considering you cannot pay in cash at the dining halls, the people you visit must pay for your meals - whether they want to or not.

Dinner: No free food on Sundays. I'm starving, and ready for this endurance test to come to an end. -LH
