Film: Hebrew Film Series

"Hot House" is a documentary-style film shot inside four Israeli prisons that examines the development of Palestinian national leadership within and outside these facilities. By exploring the motivations, backgrounds and viewpoints of inmates associated with Fatah and Hamas, "Hot House" breaks down the traditional stereotypes and polarized views of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The movie won the Special Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. This is the opening event in the Hebrew Film Series, which is sponsored by the Program in Near Eastern Studies.

Art: Gauguin's Paradise Remembered: The Noa Noa Prints

On Saturday, the University Art Museum is opening a new exhibit featuring Paul Gauguin's 10 Noa Noa woodcuts, which the artist produced in Paris in 1893 and 1894 after his first trip to Tahiti. His trips to Tahiti influenced his creation of the Primitivist style, and these prints reflect those influences. Thanks to numerous sponsors, the prints will be on view until Jan. 2.

Television: Family Guy

Nearly 12 years ago, the world was introduced to Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, Stewie, Brian and all the other adorably dysfunctional residents of Quahog. Eight seasons, four Emmys and countless controversies later, "Family Guy" is just as vulgar, mad and irresistible as ever. As a part of its fall premier series, Center Stage is proud to present the Season 9 premiere of the show that has provided us with such unforgettable moments as "Surfin' Bird" and "Cool Whip." Refreshments will be served.
