Raj Ranade: "A Serious Man"

The Coen brothers ask the universe's biggest questions in a thoroughly audacious film that is in equal measures mordantly hilarious, tragically cruel, and surprisingly profound

Adam Tanaka: ""The Hurt Locker"

With 10 movies nominated, the sheer range of films on offer is refreshing. We have everything from a cheap-as-chips South African sci-fi thriller to a British coming-of-age drama to a billion-dollar extravaganza about blue people. Oh, and "The Hurt Locker": one of the best war films ever made.

Mike Vinson: "The Hurt Locker"

What can I say? This movie had it all: a great story, great characters and great performances. And, unlike in that other film which shall remain nameless, everyone was human.

Sean Wu: "Inglourious Basterds"

It might not be perfect. It might not even be Quentin Tarantino's best work. But with wonderful writing, brilliant casting, and Brad Pitt's hilarious Italian accent, it might just be the most well-rounded film of the year.

What will win: "The Hurt Locker"

I'm pretty happy with the Oscars this year because the three best American movies of the year were nominated: "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds" and "A Serious Man." "The Hurt Locker" wins hands down for me. (-RR)
