Movie: The Blind Side
"The Blind Side" may be the most pleasant cinematic surprise of 2009. It tells the story of young Michael Oher, an athletically talented yet disadvantaged teenager who is given the opportunity to attend a selective private school. Sandra Bullock earned an Oscar nomination for her role as an upper-middle class wife and mother who took Michael into her home and guided him toward the successful NFL career he has now. A touch of smart humor and genuine sincerity make the film more than just the average inspirational sports movie. Though not without its cheesy moments, "The Blind Side" isn't afraid to be itself: a feel good movie.

Music: Rule, Britannia!
It's English patriotism at its best, and, yes, it's on an organ. Come see University Organist Eric Plutz' performance "Rule, Britannia!" on Friday. Named after the beloved song, a patriotic tune reminiscent of "Yankee Doodle," this concert will include organ pieces by late-19th and early 20th century English composers. The University Chapel should provide the perfect setting for this unique musical experience.

Theater: The Tempest
"The Tempest," one of Shakespeare's last plays, comes to campus this weekend in a joint production by Theatre Intime and the Princeton Shakespeare Company. Among Shakespeare's best loved and most frequently produced works, "The Tempest" tells the funny but poignant tale of a shipwrecked party on a deserted island. Come out and enjoy a fresh take on this classic from Jenna Devine '12 - or wait for Street's review in next week's issue.
