If you're sick of the barbaric dance floor on the Street and want a taste of refinement, then spend this Friday night doing something a bit more sophisticated. The Princeton Tango Festival will offer live tango music and free lessons taught by renowned tango instructors, so it's the perfect opportunity to pick up some nifty moves to show off to your friends. Plus, it's a great place to take that special someone: Tango, after all, requires touching for the entire length of the dance.

Film: The Proposal
"The Devil Wears Prada" with a twist; this She-Devil has an expired visa and may be shipped back to her native Canada if she isn't able to get hitched to her groveling assistant first. "The Proposal," starring an ever annoying Ryan Reynolds and a hard-but-eventually-soft Sandra Bullock, is yet another romantic comedy that makes its audience squirm. You may laugh at some of the lines, and the scenery (set mainly in Alaska) is actually very beautiful, but don't expect to be surprised by the dull and extremely predictable plot.

Music: Cafe Viv show
For the unfortunate souls who have class on Friday (and even for those who don't), there's nothing like doing your problem sets to the sweet tunes of live music. Drink coffee and drown your sorrows in some original songs, played by your extremely talented peers at Cafe Viv. And who knows, maybe the music will make you so productive that you'll finish work in time to head out to the Street after all.

Lecture: Hypnotize Your Roommate!
Want to convince your preceptor to give you an A? Or just want to see her eat an onion because she thinks it's an apple? Then learn the basics of hypnotism at the "Hypnotize Your Roommate" lecture series, ending next week. According to the event's description, you'll learn "how to recognize the hypnotic state, forming effective suggestions, self-hypnosis techniques for academic performance, and more!" Still, no matter how they may try to dress it up, to me, it just sounds like the new-age version of "How to Win Friends and Influence People."

Art: Henri Matisse and Modern Art on the French Riviera
You probably know French modernist Henri Matisse for his bright blue cut-out body figures or "The Dance," that ubiquitous painting of people playing ring-around-the-rosie found on dorm room walls everywhere. Some of the artist's most innovative work, however, can be found in his paintings from the French Riviera in the 1920s. Many of Matisse's languorous interiors and brightly colored seascapes from this period are currently on display in Philadelphia, alongside paintings by other artists inspired by the Mediterranean at the time, including Pierre Bonard, Raoul Dufy and Chaim Soutine.
