Cruz is Miss Sexuality. She has a dynamism, energy and fire that brings a level of intensity to the movie that it would lack otherwise. "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" was richer for Cruz's presence.

Adam Tanaka: Marisa Tomei

Tomei is a great actress and really underrated. She's maintained her credibility as a performer by not selling out, which is quite amazing considering that sh'e so beautiful.

Jun Koh: Viola Davis

Davis wasn't a very big part of this film, but her performance was very touching. She added a lot of spice to the movie and made her presence felt.

Isia Jasiewicz: Amy Adams

Adams should have won for "Junebug" when she was nominated in this category in 2005. This year, in "Doubt," she showed enough command to bring an extra level of subtlety to her role as an idealistic nun struggling to maintain her own innocence.

 WHO WILL WIN: Penelope Cruz

The Academy will want to recognize Cruz, who has been an energetic presence on the big screen for years. — IJ
