THE NOMINEES:
Anne Hathaway, "Rachel Getting Married"
Angelina Jolie, "Changeling"
Melissa Leo, "Frozen River"
Meryl Streep, "Doubt"
Kate Winslet, "The Reader"
WHO SHOULD WIN:
Fareed Ben-Youssef: Kate Winslet
To have an ambiguous role in a Holocaust-related film will always be noteworthy, just because it's so rarely done. Winslet really went into shades of gray, with a troubling edge to her performance. And she was able to act under make up.
Adam Tanaka: Kate Winslet
It's time for Winslet to win. She's been nominated a really awkward number of times. Kudos to her for choosing a difficult role and for being more than a pretty face.
Jun Koh: Anne Hathaway

Hathaway is not known for dark and meaty roles like this one, but she delivered a very strong performance as an intruder on a happy family gathering.
Isia Jasiewicz: Anne Hathaway
It's time for Hathaway to start getting some appreciation as a strong actress in her own right. She's a classic beauty and has an appealing persona, but she's also done a great job transcending the "teenage star" stereotype of her early career.
WHO WILL WIN: Kate Winslet
This is supposed to be Winslet's year. The fact that she won two Golden Globes last month just goes to show it. — IJ
