Kamanda '03 becomes second-in-command

Olivier Kamanda '03 won the vice presidency of the Class of 2003 last night following a runoff race against Laura Dannen '03. Five-hundred twenty-four freshman voted online and in person in the run off, USG vice president Spence Miller '02 said.

Kamanda lost a runoff election to Dannen last fall for the same position. "Running again shows a lot of commitment," Dannen said. "Now he has the opportunity to put his platform into action."

Kamanda was unavailable last night for comment.

Dannen, who is a photographer for The Daily Princetonian, said she believes the new class officers will be successful. "They're coming in with a lot of good ideas and things we tried to implement this year," she said.

Newly elected Class of 2003 president Catherine Farmer '03 said she is excited to serve with Kamanda. "He seems like he'll be a great guy to work with," she said. She added that regardless of the runoff's outcome, she would have been satisfied. "They both would've been good vice presidents," she said. —Ben Grossman
