After eating club sign-in ceremonies at Cloister Inn and Charter Club on Feb. 6, 1988, 39 students ended up at McCosh Health Center with alcohol poisoning. Seven more were sent directly to Princeton Medical Center, now known as the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, with one sophomore in an alcohol-induced coma. Criminal charges were brought up against five officers of the clubs, and two were even initially sentenced to serve time.

U.S. athlete Donald Cabral ’12 finished in eighth place in his 3,000m steeplechase finals with a final time of 8:25.81. Kenya’s Conseslus Kipruto finished first with a time of 8:03.28, a new Olympic record. At the 2012 Games, Cabral had finished eighth with a time of 8:25.91.

Despite a 2-1 victory over Germany in the preliminary matches on Day 4 of the Games, Diana Matheson ’08 and the rest of her Canadian soccer team fell 2-0 to the German squad in the semifinals of the event. Matheson only played the last thirty minutes of the match. This loss ended Canada’s undefeated streak at the tournament. Canada will now face Brazil on Friday for the bronze medal. In the preliminaries of the event, Canada and Brazil were the two highest ranked teams in each of their groups, with 9 and 7 points respectively.

U.S. athlete Donn Cabral '12 has qualified for the 3,000m steeplechase finals on Wednesday after finishing third in his heat, which happened to be the most competitive of the three. His time of 8:21.96 puts him third in the overall standings, behind Kenyan Conseslus Kipruto’s time of 8:21.40 and Ugandan Jacob Araptany’s 8:21.53.
