Princeton downs Penn in Ivy League opener to win 5th straight

The Tigers (11–3) defeated the Quakers by a score of 70–55. With the win, the Tigers earned their sixth victory in a row and won against UPenn for the first time in their last six attempts. In this rematch between the teams that finished first and second, UPenn and Princeton respectively, the Tigers rewrote the narrative that everyone was expecting; defeating the Quakers at the Palestra will be considered a big upset by many people in the coming days, who predicted UPenn as the runaway Ivy League favorite. 

Basketball recap: Tigers finish 5th in Diamond Head Classic

The Tigers victory over the Warriors concluded a 12 day, 10,500 mile road trip. They wrap up their non-conference schedule with a 7-7 record and now have a long week and a half off before kicking off their Ivy League season against Penn with a showdown in the Palestra. 

Men's basketball edges out Akron with buzzer beater

With just under a minute left in the game, a three-pointer from freshman forward Sebastian Much gave Princeton a three-point advantage, breaking a deadlock that threatened to throw the game into overtime. A successful defensive possession gave the Tigers an opportunity to make it a two-possession game, but a missed one-on-one opportunity gave the Zips an opportunity to tie the game. Akron did just that, nailing a three-pointer to tie the game at 62 apiece.    

Princeton scores much-needed victory over Monmouth before break

Playing its final home game of the semester, Princeton men’s basketball (3–6) earned a much-needed non-conference win over Monmouth (3–8) on Tuesday night. Princeton scored the final nine points of the game to cap off a 69–58 victory.

Wrestling competes in Grapple at the Garden

This past Sunday, the Princeton wrestling team continued its stretch against some of the top teams in the country when it traveled to New York City to take on No. 10 Virginia Tech in Madison Square Garden. The game represented the opening match at the Grapple at the Garden. Unfortunately, the unranked Tigers came out on the losing side of this match, defeated by a score of 26-12.

Men's and women's track compete at first home meet

The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in their first home meet of the indoor season this past Saturday, Dec. 11 at Jadwin Gym. Competing against the Tigers were runners from Monmouth, Penn, Rider, and the College of New Jersey. The teams split a total of 14 first and second place finishes between their runners, proving that the program is certainly ready for a successful season to come.

First-year Obiageri Amaechi joins the track and field team as one of the nation’s most coveted recruits. Her personal best discus throw (177 ft) ranks fourth amongst the Class of 2021. Amaechi is also a force to be reckoned with for shot put, where she is 10th in the country. 

Women's basketball starts strong, while men's team continues to struggle

At 5–2 and 2–6 respectively, the women’s and men’s basketball teams have started the year very differently. Yet this isn’t very surprising, nor should it be reason for panic, when looking back on last year.

Men's basketball drops third in a row with 71-60 loss to GW

Continuing its tough non-conference schedule, Princeton traveled to the nation’s capital Wednesday night to face George Washington University. The Tigers kept the game competitive throughout, but ultimately fell 71-60, a story that has become a theme of the early season. 

Tigers outlast tough Leopard defense in win over Lafayette

The women’s basketball team (5-2) came into last night at Lafayette (3-5) looking to pick up back-to-back wins after a win on Saturday at home over Delaware. The two teams had met early last season and Princeton came away with the win (65-27,) a goal the Tigers were looking to repeat. On Wednesday night, the Tigers were victorious 53-45.  

Club swimming anticipates successful season with increase in team chemistry

For a team founded just over a decade ago, club swimming at Princeton has come an extremely long way in growing into the competitive and tight-knit outfit that it is today. After a short history which has seen the club expand, shrink, and now expand again, it seems the team is finally finding its feet on the competitive stage, boasting a number of outstanding swimmers who have excelled at events past and look to continue exceeding expectations at future national-level tournaments.

Princeton fencing goes undefeated at Vassar Invitational

The Princeton men’s and women’s fencing teams, along with five other schools, were welcomed by Vassar College at the Walker Field House for the 2017 Tradition Multi-Meet this past Sunday. Both Tiger teams were extremely successful, going undefeated against some of the nation’s very best competition.

Women's basketball cruises past Delaware with 78–60 win

After a close loss to No. 24 Villanova, the women’s basketball team came into their match against Delaware hungry for a win. A career-high performance from senior guard Tia Weledji would give them just that as the Tigers cruised to a 78-60 victory over the Blue Hens. 

Men's basketball heads to Florida as women look to bounce back against Delaware at home

Princeton men’s basketball will face University of Miami this Saturday at 8 p.m. The team will compete at a neutral location in Miami, where the Tigers will have the opportunity to test an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent before entering Ivy League play in the New Year.

Princeton swimming and diving hosts Big Al Invitational

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Dec. 1 through 3, Princeton will be hosting the Big Al Invitational for men’s and women’s swim and dive at DeNunzio Pool. This invitational is one of the biggest early-season collegiate swimming and diving meets.
