Princeton sprint football travels to Cornell for season opener

Whenever a team endures a bit of a slump, one of two things generally tends to happen in the world of sports. The first scenario is that the sinking team folds completely and prays that the end of the season comes quickly. The second is that the players come together and decide they are going to do whatever it takes to get the team back in the win column. As Princeton's sprint football team travels to Ithaca Friday evening, it will be looking to do the latter against Cornell.Last season the Tigers could not buy a victory during league play, suffering through another 0-6 season.

Football looks past Lehigh collapse to game with Lafayette

I'll start with a confession. I wrote the back page headlines for Monday's 'Prince' after Lehigh beat the football team, 31-24."Collapse in Bethlehem," "Football blows 24 point lead," "Fifteen minutes of shame." I was particularly proud of the Andy Warhol reference. The Tigers played poorly in the second half, but fans ? including me ? need to put the loss in perspective.

Despite being frustrated by shots of the post and crossbar, a Monmouth defense that appeared to have 15 players in its own penalty box at all times, and several spectacular saves by Hawks goalkeeper Abby Stiffler, the women's soccer team kept its composure and bided its time. Finally, with just over eight minutes left in the game, the Tigers pounced.

M. tennis' Chasse, Smith win doubles at Farnsworth Invite

Fall tennis just doesn't seem right somehow.Mention tennis in the Ivy League and it conjures up images of white short clad kids learning to play on country club courts in the spring and summer months. But in order to get to that spring peak, the fall season can be essential for both the men's and women's teams at Princeton. The high point of the fall season up to now came Sunday when senior Trevor Smith and junior Hendrik Chasse captured the doubles "A" championship at the Farnsworth Invitational.Columbia's Oscar Chow took home the singles "A" championship.

Women's volleyball dominates Rider Invitational, blanks all its opponents

It was like one of those parties where a couple of kids show up, fill their pockets with food, and then leave right away, leaving everyone at the party to stand around and wonder:Who invited them? That was how the Fairleigh Dickinson, Sacred Heart, and Rider women's volleyball teams felt this weekend as Prince-ton ripped through the Rider Invi-tational, winning all three matches in Lawrenceville and never dropping a game. The Tigers began their domination Friday with a 3-0 (30-19, 30-14, 30-24) sweep over host Rider.

Despite difficult division, w. cross country hopeful

"Not really a rebuilding year, yet they lost several valuable members of the team.""Could challenge for Heps, yet compete in one of the strongest leagues in the nation."Discussing the women's cross country team at such an early point in the year is often an exercise in the liminal, with very little clear at this juncture in what could be either a breakout or disappointing season. For example, though the Tigers lost comparatively few key runners to graduation, one of those they did lose was Catherine Casey '02.Casey was easily one of Princeton's top three performers last year, and acted as a consistent point-scorer for the Tigers.
