Track & Field: Runners host Princeton Invitational this weekend

As the last meet before the all-Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, the men’s and women’s track and field teams will be hosting the Princeton Invitational this weekend and invited 10 teams to race. The Invitational will take place in Jadwin Gymnasium.

Men's Hockey: Tigers attempt to snap 4-game winless streak

With the men’s hockey team’s season coming to a close, Princeton (14-9-2 overall, 9-7-2 ECAC Hockey) will play its final home games this weekend. The Tigers will try to break their season-high four-game winless streak with games against Brown (8-12-4, 6-10-1) and Yale (20-5, 14-4). With the ECAC Hockey conference tournament only a few weeks away, this weekend’s games are the most important of the season for determining seeding. Additionally, the team’s seniors will be saying goodbye to Baker Rink as they play their final regular-season home games of their collegiate careers.

Women's Basketball: Bears and Bulldogs visit Jadwin in rematches

Halfway through the Ivy League season, the women’s basketball team is heading into the weekend in first place in the league despite a loss to Harvard at Lavietes Pavilion. But the two teams the Tigers will face — Yale on Friday and Brown on Saturday, both in Jadwin Gymnasium — are the two that defeated the Crimson to send Harvard all the way down to a distant third place.

Women's Squash: Tigers host Howe Cup

This weekend, the women’s squash team (9-4 overall, 4-3 Ivy League) will host the three-day Howe Cup national championship tournament at Jadwin Gymnasium. The No. 5 Tigers will compete in the A-Division along with the other teams ranked in the top eight nationally.

The men’s and women’s tennis teams enter a pivotal weekend of indoor play as they compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships. The No. 74 men (3-1) will travel to Cambridge as the No. 2 seed in a tournament of 10, while the No. 36 women (2-3) look to defend their home courts in Jadwin Gymnasium as they play host to seven teams.

This weekend, the women’s hockey team will travel to Brown and Yale for its final games of the regular season. Regardless of the results, the Tigers (14-12-1 overall, 11-8-1 ECAC Hockey) will participate in the ECAC Championship, a tournament featuring the top eight teams from the 12-team conference, for the 10th year in a row.

On Tap with ... Kashif Smith

Kashif Smith was the only racer to finish in under seven seconds in the 60m dash in New Haven, Conn., last weekend, winning the event in 6.98 seconds. The junior sprinter was one of many victorious Tigers, because the men’s track and field team won its seventh straight Harvard-Yale-Princeton title. Smith placed third in the 200m dash behind sophomore Sebastian Steffen and junior Austin Hollimon. After the Princeton Invitational this weekend, the team will travel to The Armory in New York to compete in the Ivy League championships.

After spending 11 of the last 14 years as a part of the women’s volleyball team, Sabrina King ’01 will finally take over the top spot. Director of Athletics Gary Walters ’67 announced Friday that King will be the Tigers’ new head coach.

Women's Water Polo: Sudden-death thriller highlights opening tourament

The women’s water polo team nearly pulled off a sweep at its season-opening Princeton Invitational this weekend but lost to a ranked opponent in its final game to finish 3-1. The No. 18 Tigers (3-1 overall, 1-0 Ivy League) defeated George Washington (1-3) and Brown (1-3) on Saturday. They returned to DeNunzio Pool the following day to beat Colorado State (3-6) but closed with a tight loss to No. 19 Pacific (6-3).

Men's Volleyball: No. 11 Penn State cements status as EIVA frontrunner with 3-0 victory

In its nine winning matches this season, the Penn State men’s volleyball team has lost only five of 32 games. Despite a close third game decided by only two points, Princeton (1-6 overall, 0-3 EIVA) was unable to take a sixth on Saturday as No. 11 Penn State (9-3, 4-0) topped the Tigers in three sets, 25-17, 25-16, 25-23.

Track & Field: Tigers dominate HYP

This weekend, the men’s and women’s track teams proved their dominance over Harvard and Yale at the annual Harvard-Princeton-Yale meet. The competition, held this year in New Haven, Conn., is a chance for the Ivy League’s three oldest rivals to get up close and personal. The Tigers’ sweep provided the seventh straight title for the men’s team and the second consecutive win for the women.

Wrestling: Top-ranked Cornell continues stellar season with sweep of Princeton

If the men’s wrestling team had to suffer a sweep, it was fitting that it should come against the nation’s top team. The Tigers’ final Ivy League match saw them defeated by the Big Red 44-0. With five wrestlers ranked sixth or higher nationally in their respective classifications, Cornell undoubtedly had the advantage in Saturday’s contest, and it proved itself deserving of that top spot.
