The baseball team’s Tuesday night game at St. John’s University was canceled because of soggy field conditions. Though the sun came out Tuesday afternoon, it was not enough to dry the field after Monday night’s rainstorm.

Pitching is upsetting timing.” Unfortunately for the softball team, Penn pitcher Jessie Lupardus proved Spahn’s comment to be true Saturday, as she held the Tigers at bay with an array of slow, deceptive pitches that handcuffed their swings and earned her a shutout victory.
Last weekend, the women’s water polo team learned that every cloud has a silver lining. Though Princeton (14-12 overall, 3-4 Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division) fell in the Southern Championships to Maryland (14-12, 5-1) by a 14-10 margin, the team secured a berth in next weekend’s Eastern Championships by placing second in the tournament. And the Tigers advanced to the title round in dramatic fashion, defeating Bucknell (18-14, 5-2) with a 10-9 victory in the second overtime.
The women’s tennis team ensured that it will at least have a share of the Ivy League title this weekend after sweeping Cornell on Friday and Columbia on Sunday. The title is Princeton’s first since 2000 and its eighth since the inception of the Ivy League Tennis Championship in 1980.
Competing on a picture-perfect day in Princeton, the men and women’s track teams emerged successful from the Larry Ellis Invitational, with five Tigers qualifying for the NCAA Regionals.
In the first game of the doubleheader on April 12 against Columbia, junior starting pitcher David Hale was shellacked for eight runs. But the Tigers (16-16 overall, 8-8 Ivy League) fought back, winning the other game against the Lions on April 12 and sweeping the doubleheader against them the next day.
