BY HILLARY DODYK Staff Writer Players and coaches have claimed for the past several seasons that Princeton football is on the rise and that the program is being successfully turned around, and it is now possible that potential recruits are taking notice as well.
BY GINA TALT Staff Writer All four of Princeton’s men’s and women’s crews competed at home over the weekend – the only time they will all be on Carnegie Lake at the same time this season, and all four varsity boats came away with first-place finishes. The men’s heavyweights opened up the weekend with a scrimmage sweep of Syracuse and Georgetown on Saturday morning.
The men’s and women’s tennis teams played Penn on Saturday to open their Ivy League season. Both teams got off to a good start against the Quakers as the men’s team won 4-3, and the women’s team 6-1. The men’s team, ranked 52nd in the nation, came out with the lead early on as the third doubles combination of junior Augie Bloom and senior Matt Siow defeated Penn’s Jeremy Court and Kyle Roth.

BY HILARY DODYK Staff Writer The baseball team began Ivy League play at home this weekend, splitting Saturday’s doubleheader with Yale and taking both games against Brown on Sunday.
The men?s swimming team left the three-day NCAA Championship Saturday without scoring any points but ready to get to work to make it back next year. The Tigers (6-2 overall, 5-2 Ivy League) sent a young squad to Indianapolis that included sophomores Connor Maher, Michael Strand and Harrison Wagner and freshmen Byron Sanborn, Sandy Bole and Teo D?Alessandro. Assistant coach Mitch Dalton noted that the young NCAA team is a result of very strong recruiting classes ? the class of 2015 was the 13th best recruiting class in the country, and the class of 2016 was the fifth best. ?Our freshman and sophomores kind of carried the team for us at Ivies, too.

The Tigers (6-2 overall, 2-1 Ivy League) had a comfortable 15-8 lead by the end of the game, but not without unfavorable numbers on the scoreboard in the first frame and a scare in the final quarter. Freshman attack Ryan Ambler kicked off a streak of nine unanswered goals against Brown (5-3, 1-1) in the middle 38 minutes.
After taking the first set 25-20, the men?s volleyball team kept the pressure on Penn State in the second as they pulled ahead to a 16-11 lead.

This weekend, Princeton’s men’s and women’s squash teams will play in the final competition of the 2012-13 collegiate squash season, as the CSA Individual Championships commence Friday at Trinity College. A tough 5-4 loss in the semifinals of last Saturday’s CSA Team Championships crushed the hopes of Bob Callahan’s men’s team of winning a repeat national championship.
With the chance to hand Harvard its second loss in the Ivy League, this weekend could not be more crucial for the men’s basketball team.
