Inch by inch, the city of New Orleans is coming back to life. Mardi Gras was a giant step toward helping us remember the rich history of a city long admired as a jewel of the world.
ICC appreciates the efforts of USG on club financial aidRegarding 'USG passes club aid resolution' (Monday, April 3, 2006):I believe the article misrepresents my views on the issue of eating club financial aid and that the matter deserves clarification. In speaking about social fragmentation at the Street, I was trying to make the point that the University knows it needs to do something about the issue and that the administration is well on its way to doing so.
Lovers of the eccentric, the exceptional and the obstinate, mourn with me. At 2 a.m. in Indiana last Sunday morning, an era quietly ended with the change of a clock's hands.
Three weeks ago, an estimated 40 members of the Duke men's lacrosse team did something stupid: they attended a party hosted by three players at their off-campus house, a night of debauchery replete with underage drinking and a pair of exotic dancers. If the allegations made by one of those dancers are true, the night also included more than just relatively harmless stupidity: she claims the players showered her with racist and misogynist slurs, then pulled her into the bathroom and gang raped her.As appalling as the allegations are, I'm not totally shocked by them.

Most Princetonians returning from spring break last week judged the quality of their vacations either by the darkness of their tans or the number of pages they were able write for their senior theses.

Long dormant, the immigration issue has erupted back to life. Hundreds of thousands of Latino protesters are clashing with America's nativist wing.
Last Tuesday, the LGBT Center sponsored a panel discussion, "The Religious Right's Obsession with Gay Sex." We supposed that the pejorative title was meant to draw attention but hoped that the presentations would at least begin with a fair exposition of the views of religious conservatives on homosexual conduct and identity.
