FDA approves new 5-day emergency contraceptive

New printing system causes delays

At the start of the academic year, the Office of Information Technology introduced a single cluster printing queue and deactivated location-specific printing queues in an effort to streamline campus printing. Less than a month later, though, students have reported technical problems ranging from lengthy printing delays to the new queue’s incompatibility with their laptop operating systems.

New rules for Cornell’s Greek system toughen hazing penalties

As the working group on campus social and residential life prepares to examine the role of fraternities and sororities on campus, the Cornell University administration has mandated a major overhaul of the school’s Greek system.Under Cornell’s new rules, announced in August, Greek organizations must eliminate all activities involving alcohol from their recruitment and pledging activities, according to The Cornell Daily Sun. The new provisions also toughen penalties for hazing and state that all parties with alcohol should be closed to freshmen.

The way you sit may influence the way you vote, according to a new study by psychology professor Daniel Oppenheimer and Thomas Trail GS ’10.The researchers discovered that people who lean to the left are more likely to support liberal beliefs — a physical manifestation of the familiar left-right political division that originated in the 1791 French Legislative Assembly, where liberals sat on the left and conservatives on the right.

Town residents debate Dinky replacement

Brandishing a number of large crowbars, Chip Crider GS ’79 criticized a recent proposal by Princeton Borough and Princeton Township to replace the Dinky with a bus rapid transit system. “A BRT won’t work in Princeton because we don’t have the space for it and we don’t have the demand for it,” he said, using the crowbars to represent large transit systems like the BRT.
