The new Class of 2017 class council officers were announcedFridayevening by USG president Shawon Jackson '15 in an email sent to the freshman class.
The new officers areNusrat Ahmed '17,CJ Harris '17,Luke Li '17,Nathan Suek '17 and AndrewSun '17.
The five freshmen were chosen out of 23 who ran for the position.
Sun received 253 votes, Suek received 233 votes, Harris received 197 votes, Li recieved 174 votes and Ahmed received 173 votes.
Jackson did not disclose in the email the percentage of votes each elected officer received.
A referendum in the election of April 2012eliminated officer positionsfor the freshman class council. Instead of having a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and social chair like the upperclass council, the freshman class council officers are all equals.

Changes could be coming to the University’s final examinations period.USG Academics Committee chair Dillon Sharp ’14 presented a series of recommendations for the final examinations period to the Faculty Committee on Examinations and Standing on Friday. His proposalsranged from giving extensions for Dean’s Date assignments to creating a faculty-student committee that could help formalize how Reading Period is utilized.

Former guard Niveen Rasheed ’13, perhaps the best player in the history of Princeton women's basketball, was sad when she left Jadwin Gymnasium for the last time. Unlike most of her teammates and classmates, however, Rasheed knew she wanted to keep playing basketball.

The Resources Committee called recommendations for greater transparency by the student group Princeton Coalition for Endowment Responsibility “unwieldy, unnecessarily complicated and inconsistent” with policies of the University, Princeton University Investment Company and Board of Trusteesin a report released this summer.

The USG Academics Committee will discuss the concerns expressed by students and faculty regarding fall semester final examinations with the Committee on Examinations and Standing on Friday, USG members decided at a weekly meeting on Sunday night. Academics committee chair Dillon Sharp ’14 said the discussion would include the issues of take-home tests, rescheduling exams and exerting pressure on professors to meet grading deadlines.

The University’s investments do not include any “direct” holdings in weapons manufacturing companies, according to a report released by the Resources Committee during the summer. This report is the result of an investigationin response to a petition by faculty members requesting that the University divest any holdings it may have in firearms.

The USG voted unanimously to appoint Mariana Bagneris ’15 as the new Class of 2015 senator at the first meeting of the year Sunday evening.Bagneris will fill the Class of 2015 senate seat that was vacated by Deana Davoudiasl, who stepped down from the position in order to take the semester off.

Susan Patton '77 has finished the manuscript of her book, "Smarten Up!: Words of Wisdom from the Princeton Mom" and has sent the completed manuscript to her editor, she confirmed last week. Simon & Schuster announced this July that Patton's book would be published by its Gallery Books imprint.

Susan Patton's forthcoming book will be called "Smarten Up!: Words of Wisdom from the Princeton Mom" and is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2014, publisher Simon & Schuster announced Tuesday.The announcement followsindications from a Simon & Schuster publicistand Patton on Friday suggesting that an agreement between the two parties was expected early this week.
