About the Editors
Jillian Ascher ’28
Jillian Ascher ’28 was the head Archives editor of the 149th and 150th Board of The Daily Princetonian and was part of the Archives team since she first joined the ‘Prince.’ She is a history major and art history and American studies minor. Jillian has been proud to see the project evolve, grow, and come to life over time. She is particularly grateful for all the collaborators she has worked with across many boards: writers, editors, interviewees, trustees, and the Larry DuPraz archives. The creation of this book has captured Jillian’s time at Princeton, and hopes it does the same for all of its readers.
Victoria Davies ’27
Victoria Davies ’27 is a managing editor of the 150th Board of The Daily Princetonian. She is a chemistry major and Italian minor, and has been part of the News team of the ‘Prince’ since her freshman year. During her tenure as head News editor, she directed the Art Museum Special Issue, and was delighted when she was asked to serve as touchpoint for this book. From when she first took on this project, to the book being ready for print, she is so proud of everyone who contributed to this book, and is overjoyed to see Princeton in Our Words finally come together.
Miriam Waldvogel ’26
Miriam Waldvogel ’26 was the 149th editor-in-chief of The Daily Princetonian. Her proudest moments at the ‘Prince’ include leading 24-hour live coverage during the 2024 pro-Palestine protests and introducing grapes and other healthy snacks to the newsroom. As editor-in-chief, she led efforts to structure the 150th anniversary book, develop long-form retrospectives, and identify compelling archival stories for re-printing — including forcing a group of bright-eyed ‘Prince’ first-years to manually flip through decades of bound volumes. Miriam is now a working journalist and credits the ‘Prince’ for showing her that newsrooms are the best damn places of all.
Lianne Chapin ’26
Lianne Chapin ’26 became the third head Archives editor to justify spending more time browsing the Larry DuPraz Archives. She majored in SPIA and minored in teacher preparation. She is particularly proud of the indefatigable writers who made her long-form assignments come alive with their curiosity and creativity, and who spent hours researching in the newsroom and the Mudd Manuscript Library to get the details right. From getting to meet Judy P. Schmitt ’76 and hearing about the centennial commemorative book, to teaching everyone around her how to say the word “sesquicentennial,” she is already overjoyed with this book, as she hopes for its readers.
Rohit Narayanan ’24
Rohit Narayanan ’24 was the 147th editor-in-chief of The Daily Princetonian and has been a trustee since 2025. He long believed he was the first electrical engineer to lead the ‘Prince,’ until research for this book taught him otherwise. During his tenure, the ‘Prince’ focused on history and analysis, covered the end of affirmative action in admissions and produced 10 special issues, but he will probably be best remembered for his role as the groom in the first annual ‘Prince’ wedding. The 150th anniversary book started under his board, and he has been working on the project ever since. He takes solace in the fact that he is not the first former ‘Prince’ staffer never to get over the ‘Prince,’ and he certainly won’t be the last.
Raphaela Gold ’26
Raphaela Gold ’26 majored in English and minored in journalism, environmental studies, and humanistic studies. She joined the ‘Prince’ in her freshman fall and later became the second head Archives editor, helping the section take shape and launching “This Week in History.” She especially loved showing new staffers around the digital and physical archives to discover the joys of old cereal advertisements, squabbles over bicker, and other gems. One of her favorite parts of the book process was chatting with ‘Prince’ alums who somehow remember so many details of their reporting, even decades after the fact. She is so excited that the book she remembers in its amorphous early stages is out in the world!
Isabella Dail ’26
Isabella Dail ’26 is a philosophy major with minors in journalism and French. She has held several positions on the ‘Prince,’ including managing editor and head editor of The Prospect. As managing editor, Dail directly oversaw Archives as one of her touchpoint sections. Dail loved working with the Archives editors and diving into the history of the ‘Prince’ through the book. During her time overseeing the section, she is most proud of working with writers, editors, and design teams to see the feature “The rise and fall of Hoagie Haven” through publication. Her favorite part of the ‘Prince’ was — and will always be — the wonderful community of people she worked with.
Lucia Zschoche ’29
Lucia Zschoche is a member of the Class of 2029 and a prospective history major from St. Louis, Missouri. Outside of class, she is an Archives and Features editor for the ‘Prince,’ and loves combing through old editions to discover forgotten pieces of Princeton history. She is very grateful to have had the opportunity to work on this book, especially to have talked to so many alumni and to have learned their stories.
