Born Grant Kwiecinski, GRiZ describes his style as “electro-soul” or “future funk,” combining vinyls for an old school aesthetic with modern synthesizers. Think swing music mixed with dubstep. He also plays the saxophone — “it was kind of a nerdy thing to do,” he says on the video for his signature track, “Smash the Funk.”Though he doesn’t have a Wikipedia page (yet), he’s released three albums: “Rebel Era,” “Mad Liberation” and “End of the World Party,” all available for free online. If his music can even make blind men dance, then you’d better get ready to get down at Quad!

Students support local businesses with new platform Zage
