News & Notes: Alumnus accuses Mossad of carrying out Sandy Hook shooting

A University alumnus has propelled himself to the forefront of a string of conspiracy theorists alleging that the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., was an orchestrated action by the U.S. government.

James H. Fetzer ’62, a former philosophy professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth, published an article in an Iranian state news service accusing the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service, of carrying out the massacre.

He argued that the shooting was part of a U.S. government effort to pass gun control legislation in order to “conduct a massive civil war against the American people.”

“The Sandy Hook massacre appears to have been a [psychological operation] intended to strike fear in the hearts of Americans by the sheer brutality of the massacre, where the killing of children is a signature of terror ops conducted by agents of Israel,” Fetzer wrote in the article.

Fetzer, who served in the Marines, studied philosophy at the University, and received his masters and doctorate degrees in philosophy from Indiana University.
