News & Notes: The 'Prince' receives national recognition

An investigation into the suicide of lecturer Antonio Calvo, written by Anjali Menon and Marcelo Rochabrun, earned first place in the in-depth news/feature story category. Jason Bach’s cartoon, “Top six religions on campus,” also won first place for comic cartoons. The ‘Prince’ also won first, second and third places in the first-person experience category. Susannah Sharpless’ “Passing the banana,” Brandon Davis’ “Changing the world with purpose” and Camille Framroze’s “A human defense” won those awards, respectively.

Four pieces of writing earned certificates of merit: Abby Williams’ “In Defense of: Dorm Heating,” Kevin Whitaker’s “Tigers spoil Penn’s title aspirations,” Catherine Ku’s “As student, new mayor shadowed by race, gender” and the Editorial Board’s “Monitoring Student Groups.”

Earlier this year, the ‘Prince’ won several awards from Associated Collegiate Press.
