The building, which has taken three years to build and is expected to be completed this spring, is named after Nancy Peretsman ’76 and Robert Scully ’72. Peretsman, who works as a managing director at an investment banking firm in New York City, has served on the University’s Board of Trustees for 21 years and was a co-chair of the Aspire capital campaign, which raised $1.88 billion. Peretsman currently sits on the presidential search committee, which will meet this weekend to begin the process of choosing a successor for retiring University President Shirley Tilghman.
Scully, Peretsman’s husband, earned his degree in psychology and spent 35 years in the financial services industry. Their daughter, Emma Scully, graduated from the University in 2012.
The 248,000-square-foot Peretsman-Scully Hall will consist of two buildings behind Poe Field on Washington Road. The psychology department is currently housed in Green Hall, while the Princeton Neuroscience Institute lives in various on-campus laboratories.
The project, which was originally delayed due to the economic downturn, was initially projected to cost $180 million. University Executive Vice President Mark Burstein declined to say how much the construction will ultimately cost.
