Finding stuff is fun. Meeting your neighbors is fun (unless they’re like that kid from Toy Story, Sid). Winning is fun. You have a chance to put all of these things together at the ’zee group scavenger hunt. After all, nothing quite says, “We’re friends now!” like discovering things together with your hallmates. Just look at Lewis and Clark. They were such good friends that they’re still treated as a duo. Who will you go down in history with?

Tradition: Pre-Rade
Want to know what Princeton does with more flair than any other school? Parades that aren’t quite named “Parade” but sound pretty darn close. The Pre-Rade is your introduction to this long, glorious tradition, as the USG and class governments come together to welcome you to the Princeton family with food, free gear and, of course, lots of love. It’s also a great time to begin developing your skill for getting your hands on free T-shirts, another great Princeton tradition. Try and collect the whole set!

Every so often, the colorful menagerie of performing arts groups on campus decides to unite like a Megazord and tear the roof off of Richardson Auditorium. Tiger Night is one of those nights. You get to see some of your most talented new peers put on a mind-blowing show, watch upperclassmen model proper heckling behavior and learn why, at Princeton, every night is a Tiger Night.

With a variety of foods, drinks and other diversions, on Thursday night the Art Museum will show you why it’s one of the coolest spots on campus. It also lets you feel a little more like Jay-Z, which is never a bad thing. In fact, you can be even cooler than Jay because your muses extend past Basquiats and Warhols to include Impressionist paintings, ancient Greek sculptures and German prints. And you’ll sure need a muse or two after the first day of classes.

Event: Student Activities Fair
With more than 300 student groups vying for your attention simultaneously, the kaleidoscopic clamor of the Student Activities Fair initially seems like little more than a bazaar of the bizarre. And in some sense, that’s exactly what it is. But it’s also a place to discover a friend, a passion, a sport, a club or a talent for underwater basket weaving you always sensed you had. And if worse comes to worst, you can always amuse yourself by misdirecting the inquisitive a capella groups: “No, I’m sorry, I don’t sing, but I hear this guy is great!”
