Angela Groves ’12 has been elected as the University’s newest Young Alumni Trustee, the University announced Friday. Groves will serve a four-year term on the University’s governing body.
Groves defeated former USG president Michael Yaroshefsky ’12 and former Tiger Inn vice president Norman Bonnyman ’12 in the general election to earn the slot. The Classes of 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 voted over the first three weeks of May.
On campus, Groves has served as a residential college adviser, secretary for the Class of 2012, vice president of the Princeton Association of Black Women and as a leader and mentor in the Black Student Union. Last month, Groves introduced Lupe Fiasco at the retirement ceremony for Cornel West GS ’80, with whom she took a freshman seminar.
Groves also served on the Working Group on Campus Social and Residential Life, which recommended the ban on freshman rush of Greek organizations.
A record-high 41 seniors ran for Young Alumni Trustee position, including 26 women. The field was eventually narrowed to Groves, Yaroshefsky and Bonnyman after an initial round of voting concluded in March.
