Update: Buildings reopen after gas leak prompted evacuation

Occupants have been allowed to return to buildings that were evacuated this afternoon due to a gas leak, the University announced. Fire officials issued an all-clear of University buildings that were affected — the Friend Center, the Computer Science Building, 185 Nassau Street and 41 William Street, the University said.

The buildings were evacuated shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon  after a utility worker struck a nearby gas service line near William Street and Charlton Street, the Borough police said.
