The changes included dropping several courses in the departments and adding new ones. The Wilson School added 12 new courses and dropped WWS 450-490: Special Topics in Public Affairs.

Nicolas Templier, assistant professor and director of graduate studies in the mathematics department, said he attended the meeting to discuss the proposed changes and was happy with their approval.

The meeting also recognized Malcolm Steinberg, professor emeritus of molecular biology, who died on Feb. 7.

Molecular biology professor Edward C. Cox read a memorial resolution for Steinberg. Recognizing Steinberg’s contributions to the University, Cox said Steinberg was very popular with undergraduates due to his “robust humor and egregious puns.”

The faculty present approved the recommendations by Dean of the College Valerie Smith of Nathaniel Fleming ’12 and Liz Butterworth ’12 as valedictorian and Latin salutatorian for the Class of 2012, respectively.

Finally, participants in the meeting approved proposals by Dean of the Faculty David Dobkin on revisions to Rules and Procedures of the Faculty. Previously, complaints regarding consensual relations with students in the non-academic conduct of faculty members had to be brought to the Dean of the Faculty. After the changes, the procedure additionally applies to complaints regarding tutoring and nepotism.
